# Get featured on the sources AI trusts

> Find the third-party pages AI platforms read for your category, and earn a place on the ones that matter.

**Goal:** appear on two or three of the pages AI cites most for prompts you are absent from.
**Time:** an hour to build the list; weeks of outreach.
**Pages:** Sources, Action Centre.

Most brands work only on their own site. The platforms, meanwhile, build their answers from a small set of round-ups, review sites, directories and community threads. Being on those pages is often worth more than any page you could write.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Find the pages AI reads for your category">
    Open **Sources**. On the **Domains** tab, the **Top 10 Domains** chart shows who AI relies on. Switch the table to the **URLs** tab and turn on **Gap Analysis**: it keeps only pages AI cites where your brand is not present, and excludes your own site and rival-owned pages you could never be listed on.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Rank them">
    Sort by **Citations** and look at **Prompts**: a page cited on eight of your prompts is worth more than one cited on one. Note the **URL Type**: listicles and comparison pages are the ones that name several brands and can add one more.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Turn them into actions">
    Open the **Action Centre**, open **Filter** and set the area to **Off-site**. Every gap source is already there as an action with the prompts it affects and a suggested approach. Add the ones you commit to with **Board**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Do the outreach">
    Each type needs a different ask. A round-up wants a reason to add you (a genuine differentiator, a data point, a customer they recognise). A review site wants reviews. A directory wants a complete listing. A community thread wants a helpful, specific answer from a real person, not a pitch. Kevin can draft the first message if you ask him about the action.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Watch citations move">
    On Sources, **Your Citation Share** and the **Source Usage** chart show whether AI is using more of yours over time. On the URLs tab, the page you were added to should now show you as **Cited**. The prompts that page feeds should start to show mentions.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Good targets

* A page cited on many of your prompts and on several platforms.
* Editorial and review pages with a named author or a submission route.
* Community threads that keep appearing for the same question.

## Poor targets

* A competitor's own site or a page it controls. Gap Analysis already removes these.
* A page cited once, on one prompt, on one platform.
* Anything where the only route in is paid placement with no editorial standard; platforms discount those over time.
