Be on the sources AI already trusts
Before it names anyone, a platform reads a few pages it trusts for the category: a “best of” round-up, a review site, a directory, a community thread. If you are on those pages, you get named. If you are not, no amount of work on your own site changes the answer for that prompt. This is usually the biggest lever and the least used. The Sources page shows the domains AI relies on for your prompts; the Gap Analysis switch narrows it to the ones where a competitor appears and you do not. The Action Centre turns them into off-site actions. See the Get featured on the sources AI trusts playbook.Answer the question where it can be lifted
When a platform does read your page, it wants a passage it can quote or summarise: the answer in the first few sentences, sub-questions with their own headings, specifics (numbers, names, dates) rather than adjectives, and a clear statement of who you are and what the product is called. The GEO Audit scores every page against exactly these things, and the Content Studio writes and refreshes pages to meet them. Pages under a few hundred words rarely get cited at all.Make it obvious who you are
Platforms confuse brands with similar names, miss trading names, and attribute your product to a founder or a parent company. Give Koalr your alternative names so mentions are counted (Org Admin, Configure, Details, Also known as), and make your own pages state the brand plainly in the opening. Entity Clarity is one of the seven GEO Audit categories for this reason.Let the crawlers in
Every AI platform crawls with its own bots, and a site that blocks them in robots.txt or at the server has removed itself from that platform’s answers. Agent Experience checks every relevant bot, your structured data and your llms.txt file. It is the cheapest fix on this list and the one most often broken.Keep pages current
Platforms favour recent pages, and a page that has not changed in a year loses ground to one that has. The GEO Audit marks freshness (Fresh, Aging, Stale, Outdated), and the Content Studio’s Refresh tab ranks your existing pages by how much a rework would earn.Compete where you can win first
Broad prompts (“CRM software”) name the biggest brands every time and are hard to move. Specific ones (“CRM for a six-person design studio”) are won by whoever answers them best, which is usually a focused page. Start with the specific prompts where competitors are named and you are not; the Action Centre already ranks them. What does not move it
- Repeating keywords. Platforms read for meaning, not density.
- Prompts with your name in them. They are always answered in your favour and tell you nothing about discovery. Koalr tracks them separately for a different reason: to see how AI describes you.
- Reacting to one run. Answers vary. Judge a change over a couple of weeks of runs, not the next morning.
Everything above is what the Action Centre is scoring when it orders your actions. If you only do one thing, work that list from the top.
